Vision.T and Vision.SXT to Lead Mahindra’s SUV Future

While Monterey Car Week grabbed global attention with multi-million-dollar supercars and exotic restomods, Mahindra was busy making waves thousands of miles away in India. At a special event, the automaker unveiled four new concept vehicles that preview its production lineup for 2027.

Key Highlights

  • Mahindra unveiled four concepts: Vision.T, Vision.SXT, Vision.X, and Vision.S.
  • All sit on the new NU_IQ flexible platform for ICE, hybrid, and electric powertrains.
  • Vision.T and Vision.SXT resemble futuristic Jeep Wrangler-inspired off-roaders.
  • Platform supports global ambitions with left- and right-hand drive compatibility.
  • Interiors feature digital clusters, large portrait touchscreens, and advanced safety design.

Four Concepts, One Strategy

At the center of Mahindra’s reveal are the Vision.T off-road SUV and Vision.SXT pickup, both designed with bold, upright proportions that bring to mind the rugged character of Jeep models. Joining them are the sportier Vision.X and the more rugged Vision.S, expanding Mahindra’s lineup to appeal to different segments of global buyers.

All four concepts were developed in Mahindra’s Global Design Studios in Mumbai and Banbury, UK, and represent the automaker’s latest Heartcore design language, blending modern surfaces with traditional SUV toughness.

NU_IQ Platform: Built for Versatility

Beneath these striking exteriors lies the real star: Mahindra’s NU_IQ platform. Designed as a flexible architecture, it accommodates a wide range of propulsion systems—gasoline, diesel, hybrid, and fully electric—while offering both front- and all-wheel-drive layouts.

This approach allows Mahindra to develop multiple market-specific variants while controlling production costs, a crucial factor for its expanding global reach. The NU_IQ also supports both left- and right-hand drive configurations, making it viable for exports to Europe, Asia, and North America.

The Indian Wranglers: Vision.T and Vision.SXT

Perhaps the most striking of the new lineup, the Vision.T SUV and Vision.SXT pickup, evolve directly from Mahindra’s Thar.e concept of 2023. Unlike earlier show cars, these vehicles appear much closer to production readiness.

  • Vision.T: A five-door SUV with upright proportions, boxy wheel arches, and a tall stance.
  • Vision.SXT: A four-door pickup featuring a compact cargo bed fitted with two full-size spare wheels mounted behind a custom tailgate.

Both models feature LED headlights, off-road bumpers, high ground clearance, and all-terrain tires, cementing their off-road credibility. Inside, the design is modern and functional, with:

  • Five-seat layout
  • Tall portrait touchscreen dominating the center console
  • Digital instrument cluster
  • Overhead switch panel for enhanced functionality

Expanding Mahindra’s Global Presence

Mahindra’s latest concepts demonstrate not just design flair but also global intent. By leveraging the adaptable NU_IQ platform, the company is positioning itself to compete in markets where SUVs dominate demand.

The combination of rugged design, modular architecture, and export-friendly specifications suggests Mahindra is preparing for aggressive global expansion by 2027.

Looking Ahead

With these four bold concepts, Mahindra has signaled a clear direction for its future product lineup. By marrying rugged off-road DNA with modern technology and flexible engineering, the automaker is setting the stage for a new generation of SUVs that could challenge established players worldwide.

For enthusiasts and industry watchers alike, the Vision lineup shows that Mahindra intends to play on the global stage of SUV design and innovation. The road to 2027 looks promising—and competitive.
